about
This is one of the most intensely personal songs I’ve ever written, so much so that its hard to share in a lot of depth and transparency about the subject. But I can say that I was going through one of the hardest times I’ve ever experienced, in my relationship and in my personal life. All dealing with substance issues, sobriety, and mental health challenges. I poured all those feelings into the song. But when I was working on the demo it came out with this dance vibe. Which is actually one of my favorite approaches in songwriting - Take a sad song or subject but make it something you can dance to. Eventually through a lot of therapy and intense personal work, things started getting better. And the song ended up feeling like this anthem - that no matter what we’re experiencing, there is a way through it. It may be hard to see, or to believe in. But it's there.
lyrics
Take me higher
To that holy fire
I can’t find the spirit anymore
The sun is setting
And these days are getting
Harder just to make it out the door
And I’m
Staring at the TV
Like something’s gonna reach me
Like someone’s gonna turn and call my name
Drowning in my own bed
Locked up in my own head
Waiting on a color besides this gray
Secret places
And the ragged faces
Find me in the mirror every time
A faded city
Used to shine so pretty
Now she’s just a broken highway sign
And I’m
Staring at the TV
Like something’s gonna reach me
Like someone’s gonna turn and call my name
Drowning in my own bed
Locked up in my own head
Waiting on a color besides this gray
And i can feel the fire
Dancing on a wire
But honey I can see the long way down
Screaming at the TV
Like can’t somebody see me
Spend another day in lost and found

the first time i saw this band was at when we were young. i only saw their set because one of my relatives names is linda, and quickly fell in love with their music. YIPPE FOR PUNK AND EMO MUSIC!!! ESP GRRRLL PUNK I LOVE cassandra
The music is really good; it's great to listen to. It's also an intro to the stories of several Asian-American communities, and that knowledge is vital to understanding our shared history as Americans, including injustices committed. I like the singer's voice and presentation, as well. erin7wade
